Pool Building Process

Building a backyard pool can be a thrilling adventure! But with so much to consider, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. That’s why we’ve created this comprehensive guide to help you plan and execute your dream pool project.

From choosing the right builder to getting the permits, every step is important. Whether you’re looking to create a relaxing oasis or a backyard water park, keep reading to learn everything you need to know.

Step 1:

Find Your Builder The first step in building a pool is finding the right contractor. You can start by asking friends and family for recommendations and reading online reviews to find the best builder in your area.

Once you’ve found a builder you like, you’ll have a consultation to discuss your ideas, budget, and timeline. With the right builder by your side, you can be confident that your pool project is in good hands.

Step 2:

Design Your Oasis Once you’ve chosen your builder, it’s time for the fun part – designing your pool! Our team at Azbackyardlifestyles offers a free 3D pool design process, giving you a realistic idea of what your pool will look like in your backyard.

With the 3D rendering, you can make tweaks and make sure everything is just how you want it. Plus, if you live in a neighborhood with an HOA, you can easily get approval.

Step 3:

Obtain the Permits Once the design is finalized, your builder will help you get the necessary permits to start building. They’ll also call 811 to mark any underground utilities, so your project stays on track.

Step 4:

Time to Dig Once you have the green light, the excavation process begins! This is one of the messiest parts of building a pool, but it’s also exciting to see the progress. Our crew will dig the hole for your pool, making sure to keep in line with the approved design.

Step 5:

Lay the Foundation Once the hole is ready, it’s time to lay the foundation for your pool. We’ll reinforce the area with structural steel, install plumbing and drains, and make sure filtration is set up correctly so your water is crystal clear.

Step 6:

The Gunite Shell Next, we’ll mix cement, sand, and rock to create a solid shell for your pool, known as gunite. This is when you’ll start to see your pool design come to life!

Step 7:

Coping and Tiling We’ll add coping and tile around the perimeter of the pool, making it look more finished. This is also when any additional features, like a waterfall or jets, will be added.

Step 8:

Electrical Work Electricians will come out to set up power for your pool equipment and lighting, including installing the breaker box. If you plan to use gas to heat your pool, the gas lines will also be installed.

Step 9:

Building the Deck We’ll start building the deck, making the area around your pool beautiful and functional. With a variety of pavers, designs, and colors to choose from, your new pool area will perfectly complement your home.

Step 10:

Equipment Installation Finally, it’s time to install all the equipment you need to operate your pool, like pumps, filtration system, cleaner, and heater. We’ll test everything to make sure it’s working correctly before wrapping up the project.
